01 / DIIV share ‘Trillions’ ahead of ZIRP!

DIIV have shared ‘Trillions’ and a video directed by Jaxon Whittington. The song previews ZIRP!, their fifth album, due October 30 through Fantasy Recordings. It follows 2024’s Frog in Boiling Water.

The way DIIV play together onstage gave producer A. G. Cook his starting point. In the label’s announcement, he says he insisted on recording live drums before most of the songs were finished, rather than taking the remix-based approach the band initially proposed. DIIV are supporting Interpol on selected North American dates this month, with a Basement show at Los Angeles’ Shrine Expo Hall on October 20.

02 / Helen return with Linda’s Head

Helen released Linda’s Head on October 2 through Kranky. The group brings together Liz Harris, who records solo as Grouper, Scott Simmons and Jed Bindeman. The ten-track album follows The Original Faces.

The title track and ‘Dead Shark II’ preceded the album. Physical editions are available through Kranky.

03 / Bad Waitress share second single from In the Hollow

Toronto’s Bad Waitress released ‘I Only Like You When I’m Drunk’ on October 2, the second advance single from In the Hollow, due October 30, 2026 through Stomp Records.

The band produced the follow-up to their 2021 debut, No Taste, themselves, recording with engineer Josh Korody at Toronto’s Wychwood Sound.

04 / CØLDSTAR join Town And Towers with ‘Last Night on Earth’

Bern duo CØLDSTAR have signed to Denmark’s Town And Towers Records. ‘Last Night on Earth’, released October 2, is their first single for the label.

Martin Baumann and Michael Freund make up the group, whose earlier releases include the 2023 Coming Home EP and their 2024 debut album, CØSMIC DUST, on Swiss Dark Nights. ‘Last Night on Earth’ is their fifth single since that album. Side-Line describes its premise as a narrator watching Earth’s final hours from a spacecraft.

05 / Mass Minor release ‘Get Up’ after Metropolis signing

Mass Minor, the Austin project led by Andrew J. Martin, Jr., released ‘Get Up’ on October 2 following a signing to Metropolis Records. It previews Beyond the Edge of Reason, due in late February 2027, alongside July’s ‘Nowhere Now’, according to M.K. Ultra Magazine.

Martin describes the song as a conversation with God about sin, money and mortality, questioning why people seek divine solutions to problems they created themselves. He self-released Mass Minor’s debut, Become Each Other, in 2020.

06 / This Eternal Decay preview AMIGDALA with ‘Violate’

This Eternal Decay released ‘Violate’ on October 2 with a video directed by Riccardo Sabetti. Other Voices reports that it’s the Italian band’s sixth single from AMIGDALA, due January 15, 2027 through Swiss Dark Nights.

The band describes the song as an exploration of intimacy through consensual BDSM, with desire, trust and vulnerability central to its subject. The video credits include special effects by RVS. The forthcoming album’s announced themes include memory and obsession.
