Criticism and reporting

Reviews must be grounded in the recording under discussion. News and factual context should link to reliable sources, preferably original announcements, artist statements and credited release information. Publicity claims are attributed rather than presented as independently established facts.

Reporting standards

We do not invent contributors, quotations, interviews, concert attendance or first-hand experiences. Reported facts are distinguished from critical judgments, and source material is attributed.

Commercial independence

Payment cannot purchase a favorable critical judgment. Sponsored material, complimentary products and affiliate relationships must be disclosed where relevant. Paid placements must be distinguishable from independent editorial. We will not promise streams, sales, chart positions or reach we cannot substantiate.

Corrections

Send a correction request, article link and supporting evidence to margin.tone.editors@gmail.com. Material factual corrections should be identified on the article; disagreement with a critical opinion is not in itself a factual error.

Images, quotations and links

Use artwork and photographs only with an appropriate permission or other valid basis, retain credits, and keep quotations brief and purposeful. Links to outside services do not imply endorsement of every claim on those services.
