01 / Magic Wands share “Guardians” ahead of Sun Kiss

Los Angeles duo Magic Wands have shared “Guardians,” a new single on Metropolis Records. It’s the second song from Sun Kiss, expected in early 2027, following “Diamond Rain.” Dexy and Chris Valentine describe it as looking back on a period of life that no longer feels real, “even though it really happened.”

The duo’s other releases this year include the Wishing Well and Remixes EPs, plus a remix of “Swoon” by Peter Murphy, the singer of Bauhaus, released on May 29.

02 / Cor de Lux take Year of the Horse on an October tour

North Carolina band Cor de Lux head out on tour next week with their third album, Year of the Horse. Produced by J. Robbins, the nine-track record is their first for Ipecac Recordings. LOUD WOMEN’s October 2 review finds it concerned with relationships and an increasingly divided society.

The tour opens at Philadelphia’s Ortlieb’s on October 7, followed by Brooklyn on October 8. Further stops include Toronto, Detroit and Chicago, with the run continuing through Asheville on October 18.

03 / The Kilans announce their debut album for October 30

Salt Lake City four-piece The Kilans have announced their debut album, Could You Keep It Dark?, for October 30 through Mom + Pop Music. They’re introducing the record with its closing song, “Oh, Lucy,” and an accompanying video. The eleven-track record also includes the previously released “Cherry, Please.”

Singer and guitarist Jack Ongman says the album explores mental-health struggles and the pressure he feels as the only musician in his family. A North American tour is scheduled to open in Austin on November 5 and finish in Salt Lake City on December 10.

04 / Cult Crime announce Fully Automatic and share two tracks

Toronto punk band Cult Crime have announced Fully Automatic, their second album, for October 30 on Static Shock Records. They have shared two songs ahead of the twelve-track release: “Final Dose” and “Just Like A Knife.”

Cult Crime started with a 2023 demo recorded by Matthew Menard, of Psychic Void. What began there has grown into a four-piece with members of Chain Whip, Imploders and the Vapids. Fully Automatic follows the band’s self-titled debut, released in 2025.
