01 / Desinteresse switch languages on “Falling Faces”
Dutch coldwave trio Desinteresse have shared “Falling Faces,” the first single from their second album, A Picture, due through Fabrika Records later this year. According to Side-Line, it’s their first released song with English-language lyrics; Romy Janssen filmed the video, which premiered on October 10.
The change follows Onschuld, their 2025 debut, recorded entirely on analogue equipment at Amsterdam’s Lullabye Factory. Their autumn European dates include Amsterdam’s Paradiso on November 8 and Berlin’s Kantine am Berghain on December 8.
02 / Waves Crashing remember Flux on “Stars”
Olympia shoegaze band Waves Crashing have shared “Stars,” a tribute to songwriter Joshua Calisti’s late dog, Flux. As Obscure Sound’s premiere explains, the two had spent sixteen years together. The song follows the band’s album In The Blur earlier this year.
The two-track Bandcamp release pairs it with a remix by Jessica Van Horn, who records as Echodoll. The band’s first UK tour is scheduled for November 4–8, beginning in Chelmsford and ending at the Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath.
03 / Calva Louise carry their story forward with “La Promesa”
Calva Louise have released “La Promesa” through Mascot Records, their first single since the July 2025 album Edge of the Abyss. Singer and guitarist Jess Allanic wrote, directed and handled the effects for its video, made with the band’s friends and continuing the story of a character from that album.
Allanic says the song draws on Venezuelan joropo and that Spanish, her native language, felt natural for its melody and emotions. Bassist Alizon Taho also sings lines in French. As the band explain, most recording took place at home; the drums were recorded at The Ranch, with Allanic producing and Jeff Dunne mixing and mastering. Their next announced headline dates run through France from October 23–28 and Spain from October 30–November 1.
04 / Gilla Band take “Pugnello” to North America
Gilla Band begin their North American tour at Philadelphia’s Underground Arts on Wednesday, October 14. The Dublin quartet are touring Pugnello, their fourth album, released through Rough Trade in September. The itinerary includes Los Angeles’s Lodge Room on November 4 with Annie-Claude Deschênes and continues through Washington, DC, on November 15.
The four years since their 2022 album Most Normal included work outside the band: singer Dara Kiely took up painting, drummer Adam Faulkner toured with Lankum, bassist Daniel Fox produced other artists, and guitarist Alan Duggan Borges launched the Null Club. Rough Trade’s announcement places the new album’s recording across three Dublin studios between 2022 and 2026. Gilla Band produced it, with Fox recording and mixing.
05 / Slowly Slowly revisit their catalogue for album six
Slowly Slowly have announced Everybody Tells The Truth, due February 5, 2027 through Nettwerk. For the Melbourne band’s sixth album, songwriter Ben Stewart revisited their earlier records and returned to writing alone. “Every song on the record was written in solitude with a guitar,” he says in the label’s announcement.
New single “Parallel” arrived with the October 9 announcement, following “Sacrosaint.” Stewart describes it as a lighthearted look at dissociation and the gaps in his memory; the band tried it out on their 2025 Australian regional tour before recording it. They’re also on the Good Things festival bill this December, playing Melbourne on December 4, Sydney on December 5 and Brisbane on December 6.
06 / Ben Quad share a new single before their UK tour
Ben Quad’s “I Only Let You Down Now” arrives just before the Oklahoma City band’s UK headline tour begins in Manchester on October 13. Released through Pure Noise Records with an official video, the song is about recognising old mistakes and getting out of the cycle, the band say in their announcement. They also describe it as a return to their emo roots and a renewed emphasis on guitar riffs.
Riley! support the ten-date run, which finishes at Southampton’s Joiners on October 23 and London’s Dingwalls on October 24. The new song follows Wisher, Ben Quad’s second album and first LP for Pure Noise, released in November 2025.
