01 / L7 finish ‘Loma Linda’ before the Last Hurrah
L7 have released ‘Loma Linda’, an unfinished recording Donita Sparks found in the band’s archives and brought back to life ahead of their farewell tour. The band added new lyrics, vocals and other parts in a couple of days. The release marks bassist Janis Tanaka’s return following Jennifer Finch’s death from brain cancer in July, aged 59.
Finch had asked the band to continue with the tour as planned. The Last Hurrah opens with two nights at San Diego’s Casbah on October 6 and 7; the North American leg ends November 14 at the Wiltern in Los Angeles. ‘Loma Linda’ was announced as a free download from L7’s website for its first week, ahead of its arrival on streaming services.
02 / Knives announce Nothing New Under The Sun
Bristol’s Knives have announced their second album, Nothing New Under The Sun, for March 5, 2027 through Marshall Records. It follows their 2025 debut, GLITTER, and opens with the new single ‘Vermillion’.
The band describe the song as a question of consequence: whether the decisions you make reflect your values, how they affect other people, and what you leave behind. The eleven-track album also includes ‘Every Shade In Your Hue’, ‘Mea Culpa’ and ‘We’re Getting Further From The Truth’.
03 / BLEECH 9:3 share ‘Tourniquet’ and name their debut album
BLEECH 9:3 have released ‘Tourniquet’ and confirmed that their debut album will be called BLEED. Dan Carey produced the single and Rich Costey mixed it.
The band’s 2027 tour includes New York’s Mercury Lounge on January 21 and the Echo in Los Angeles on February 3. A longer UK and European run follows in April and May, including London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on May 12.
04 / le_mol prepare split split for October 16
Austrian duo le_mol release their sixth album, split split, on October 16 through Noise Appeal Records. Its seven tracks take different kinds of division as their starting points, with titles including ‘splitsville’, ‘split brain’ and ‘split the rich’.
The Zew contributes lyrics and vocals to ‘split tongue’, an exception to the duo’s largely instrumental approach. Hanna Hollmann made the collage and monotype artwork. Announced shows include Villach on October 24, Innsbruck on October 30, Budapest on October 31 and Vienna on November 6.
05 / Teens in Trouble revisit a friendship breakup on ‘I Do’
Lizzie Killian says she thought she was over a friendship breakup until a mutual friend brought it up over brunch. Explaining what had happened, she found herself getting angry again. That unfinished business became ‘I Do’, the new Teens in Trouble single, released October 5 through Lauren Records and Sneak Dog Records.
Killian wrote the song with Bat Boy’s Hannah Eagle at a retreat in summer 2025; Eagle also sings backing vocals. Dave Schiffman produced, engineered and mixed the recording at District Recording in San Jose. Aja Pop directed the accompanying video, with boxer Holly Lawson appearing opposite Killian and teaching her some moves on set.
06 / Cyclic Law sets releases from ÜNGTT, Ancestros and Plague Cathedral
Cyclic Law has released Castle Burner, the second full-length from Berlin project ÜNGTT, led by B.S.s. The October 2 release is available on CD and digitally, with four bonus tracks from the out-of-print Peasant Revolt CD-R. It’s co-released with Breath.Sun.Bone.Blood.
Two debuts follow: Canadian duo Plague Cathedral’s …To Dust You Shall Return arrives October 26 on CD and digitally, co-produced with Zazen Sounds. Ancestros’ Blasfemia Austral is due November 16 on CD, vinyl and digitally. Ancestros includes members of Orthodox, Voidescent and PYLAR; Plague Cathedral brings together members of Undirheimar/Sublimatio Mortis and NordicWinter.
