Felicia Chen’s second solo album is due October 23, with contributions from members of The Body and BIG|BRAVE.

Dis Fig’s second solo album, What To Make Of These Mortal Hands, is due through Thrill Jockey on October 23, 2026. Across a stated 63-minute running time, producer and vocalist Felicia Chen is returning to the solo-album format with a cast of collaborators drawn into a project under her own name.

The label’s artist biography places the record seven years after her debut, PURGE. In between, Chen has worked with The Bug on In Blue and The Body on Orchards of a Futile Heaven, as well as contributing performance and score to Asian Dope Boys’ durational works. Those connections provide useful context for the new release without making it a sequel to any one collaboration.

The credits described on Thrill Jockey’s album page are specific. Lee Buford of The Body contributes drums and Liam Andrews of BIG|BRAVE contributes bass to “The Snake You Built.” LUηG joins Chen on “The Stone Awakens,” while the wind between has a narrating role within the album. It is a solo record, then, but not a claim to have made every sound alone.

Chen’s own account of the project emphasizes the construction of an inhabitable space. In a statement published by Thrill Jockey, she says: “I wanted this record to feel like stepping into its own distinct world.” The label describes an album organized as scenes, moving through the human capacity for beauty and devastation. Those are the artist’s intention and the label’s framing—not conclusions drawn here from advance listening.

The distinction is especially useful for a musician whose work crosses the boundaries between heavy music, electronics and performance. The familiar collaborators locate part of the project’s community; they do not, by themselves, establish what the album will sound like. Nor should the word “solo” obscure the supporting roles the announcement takes care to name.

As October approaches, the concrete proposition is substantial enough: a second solo album, a long-form structure and a clearly identified group of contributors. Its success as an emotional or sonic experience will be a question for listening, rather than something a pre-release description can settle.
